( The Last Stand )

Thanks so much to everyone who stopped by my Request Post to leave me a prompt. I really appreciate it!

I told myself that I would stop at ten, but I actually ended up writing thirteen, which is quite remarkable, especially for me. I wrote almost all of the prompts (ironically, it was poor saestina that I neglected, and only wrote one of the three she suggested! *blushes*) and each one was written in under a hour.

I have to say, it was really interesting because they were all things I'd never written before, and some were things I'd never even considered! And while it was strange to write something without running it past saestina first, I'm sure she was relieved not to get my emo emails asking, 'ZOMG! IS IT RUBBISH?!'

So here they are. I won't be cross-posting these anywhere, so this is really just for my own archive. Not my best work I concede, but they're really short (I wrote each of them in a reply to a comment) so I'd love to know what you think.

saestina has been schooling everyone on how to write totally awsum fics in like, thirty seconds. And I was all like, 'ZOMG! I could never do that!' cos anyone who knows me, knows that I am cripplingly insecure when it comes to writing. Combine that with my *coughs*mild*coughs* OCD, and you're left with an author who questions and over-analyses everything she writes.

Good times.

So she suggested I try it, if for no other reason than it will force me to just write something, without fretting about the who, what, where and why. Apparently, it's liberating and I'm kinda intrigued as to how my emo!muse will respond.

I'm tres scared, but here we go...

I've never tried to hide my love for holycitygirl, we are engaged after all. So while I may be biased, overlook that for a moment and read this, because it's wonderful.

It's a short one-shot from Monica's pov, and is set - I'm guessing - about forty years from the end of volume two, and explores her friendship with Claire.

All she has are cheap words and a place to rest. She knows Claire sees them both as temporary sanctuary in a life of chaos, something to take while she can.

Only Lee could write Monica and make me love her! *happy sigh*
